Who would get the Freedom Dividend in Andrew Yang’s plan? Every U.S. citizen over the age of 18 would receive $1,000 a month, regardless of income or employment status, free and clear and no jumping through hoops.

they will need a hack of huge dividends to pay any tax what-so-ever bearing in mind that divis upto basic rate thresholds are taxed at 10% (on grossed up value) against which you get 10% tax credit. If the shares are on trust for children the again Form R185 should state that the income distributed is schedule F and so same rules apply.

Only adult citizens will get the money. Thus if you are counting on a $5,000 per 5 person (2 adults, 3 kids) household, you are out of luck. If you receive government benefits, you will be required to chose between those benefits and the Freedom Dividend.

Or as Yangs calls it, The Freedom Dividend. This would provide every individual over 18 with a guaranteed income of $1,000 per month. As of 2018, there was roughly 252 million citizens over 18. In total, this would cost the taxpayer over $3 trillion, or roughly 16% of GDP.
