Why are young people so much taller nowadays? One possible explanation for this is the movement to improve nutrition and nourishment in classrooms as well as in the home. Human beings will develop more robust, healthy bodies when they are nourished at a young age and their bodies are supplied with everything needed in the human diet to promote tall height, strong teeth, a healthy posture, etc.

She is now 5'7" at 17, still time to grow but probably not. I think you are being unfair saying he sticks out like a sore thumb. Yes 6' at 11-12 is tall but not at age 18. His growth may settle down and he will notice school friends catch up and even pass his height.
